Rama Garimella


  • Smt. Rama Garimella grew up in Madhya Pradesh, though her family hails from Andhra Pradesh. At a very early age when her family resided in Jagadalpur, she showed interest in singing bhajans and playing dholak. Her father seized upon her interest and put her under the tutelage of Sri. Ramdas Vaishnav, a renowned tabla player in Jagadalpur. When her family moved to Raipur and she joined Kamala Devi Sangeet Mahavidyala where she earned her B.Mus. in Tabla under the guidance of various renowned music teachers. Rama has been passionate and continued playing at various forums and participated in many concerts, in India. Currently she is a student of Sri. Ravi Gutala for the past 3 years.

    In the Bay Area, she participated in “Layamrutavarshini”; a percussion orchestra conducted by Sri. Ella Venkateswar as part of Silicon Andhra Annual Day celebrations. She continues to enthrall music lovers in SF Bay Area with her deft fingers on Tabla and pleasant personality. She also paints and is a qualified Graphic Designer.
