Prithvi Guruprasath

  • Prithvi Guruprasad's association with music started even when she was a toddler. She was first initiated into the basics by her father. In the early teens, she came under the expert guidance of Mrs. Sangeetha Swaminathan, with whom she has been learning for the past 5 years. She not only learns Carnatic music but also Hindustani Classical vocal from Shri Manoj Tamhankar and Mrs. Archana Tamhankar. In the last seven years she has participated in most of the various music festivals in both Carnatic and Hindustani. Last year when she visited India she fine-tuned her skills under Shri. Karur Krishnamurthy, and immediately upon her return had the unique opportunity to sing under the LOTUS banner for their Ganesh Chathurthi celebrations along with her sister, Pragathi.

Prithvi was one of the 3 short listed from California to participate in a NRI talent hunt held at Toronto, Canada. She was crowned Galaata Idol for the year 2007 in a light music competition conducted by Udavum Karangal. This summer Prithvi was part of the Junior Olympics Table Tennis contingent where she returned with a Gold and Bronze medal to her credit.

Fusion of Western, Carnatic and Hindustani music remains her ultimate dream and goal.
