Pragati Guruprasath


  • Pragathi takes to music like a fish to water. She exhibited her singing talent at a very young age. Participating in singing festivals and competitions from a very very tender age of just 4, Pragathi has to her credit various awards and trophies. She placed first in the open category of the Music Competitions held at the Festival of India, Independence Day Celebrations when she was just 6. Before that Pragathi had already recorded a couple of songs as early as 2002 for a Tamil Radio Show here in the Bay Area. She won the first prize for her Carnatic Vocal rendition at the prestigious Clevelend Thyagaraja Aradhana in 2005. She was also one of the short listed from California for a NRI Talent Hunt held at Toronto and was further selected to represent the North American Continent in India for the same.

    Pragathi also learns Carnatic vocal from Mrs. Sangeetha Swaminathan and Hindustani vocal from Mr. Manoj and Archana Tamhankar. Recently she has also started learning to play the Veena,from Shri Srikanth Chari. In 2007 she was part of the "Ooh La La" conducted by Sun TV and A. R. Rahman aired on Sun TV. She is a regular participant and winner at the Satya Devi Memorial Trust Hindustani music competitions and also the competitions conducted by Maharashtra Mandal- Bay Area

    She has given a Carnatic vocal concert with her sister here in the Bay area under the LOTUS banner and is preparing to give a solo perofrmance very soon. Her dream is to become a play back singer and Vocal performing artist.
